Sheet Piling

Sheet piles are used in a wide range of applications in Australia and across the world. Sheet piles are either a temporary or a permanent solution, depending on the application.

This is a piling method that in certain soil types, is an effective way to reduce the flow of ground water and there fore is often used with dewatering systems. Sheet piling of used in area were there is a low risk of ground movement or there is a very low chance of the vibrations causing disturbances to neighbouring buildings.

The general process for installing Sheet Piles:

  • Site mark out.
  • Rig stands the sheets and drives them into the ground with it’s hydraulic vibrating head.
  • Sheets are driven in until the right depth is reached.
  • The rig crawls along and drives the consecutive sheets in.
  • Some sites require predrilling before sheets are driven into the ground.

Sheet piling is often preferred for its efficiency and speed of installation in wet or unstable ground, due to the flexible design methods and applications.

Anchoring or bracing solutions can be used for additional structural stability of the sheet piles while basements are being constructed.

These piles are also often used on marine and wharf projects to build a temporary dam wall during a construction or rehabilitation project.

Stratec have completed sheet piling projects across Queensland and Australia including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and the Fraser Burnett Region.
